Privacy Policy

Last updated October 2026

Unshot ("the app," "we," "our") is built around one rule: your photo library never leaves your device. This policy explains exactly what that means in practice.

The short version

Unshot does not collect, store, transmit, or have access to any of your photos, your photo library's contents, or any personal information. All photo analysis happens entirely on your iPhone, using Apple's on-device Vision framework. We have no servers that process or store your data, because we don't need any.

What Unshot accesses, and why

Photo Library access. Unshot requests access to your Photos library (via Apple's PhotosKit framework) so it can scan your photos, compute similarity between them, and delete the photos you choose to remove. This access is used only on your device, in real time, while the app is open. Photos are never copied, cached outside the app's normal operation, uploaded, or shared with any third party.

Deletions. When you confirm a cleanup, Unshot asks iOS to move the selected photos to your Photos app's Recently Deleted album, the same mechanism the Photos app itself uses. Recently Deleted items remain recoverable there for 30 days before iOS permanently removes them. Unshot has no way to bypass or shorten that window.

What we don't do

In-app purchases

Unshot Pro is sold as a one-time in-app purchase through Apple's App Store (StoreKit). Payment processing, receipts, and purchase history are handled entirely by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. Unshot only reads your purchase entitlement to decide whether Pro features are unlocked; it does not see your payment details.

Data stored on your device

To avoid re-scanning your whole library every time you open the app, Unshot keeps a small local index on your device (photo identifiers, computed similarity data, and your review choices). This index never leaves your device and is deleted if you uninstall the app.

Children's privacy

Unshot does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change too, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Since Unshot fundamentally doesn't collect data, we don't expect this to change.
